| Shady Lady From the start, Egyptian-born Parisienne Gaby Aghion had a vision for a softer alternative to mainstream fashion. Surrounded by the stiff silhouettes of the 1950s, Aghion let her Bohemian spirit loose, joined forces with Jacques Lenoir and debuted the first Chloe collection in 1956 at the artist hangout Café de Flore. The looks reflected a fresh, feminine style that captured the new youthful energy in Paris. Ten years later, Karl Lagerfeld took the reigns as head designer, garnering a cult following of some of the most stylish women of the times. From Grace Kelly to Brigitte Bardot, fashion plates flocked to Chloe's ultra-romantic, luxurious daywear. As the label expanded, other brilliant designers led the way including Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo. Each designer has updated the collections while remaining true to the casual elegance of the brand. From ready-to-wear to handbags to sunglasses, Chloe proves that even the most modern styles can befit the most feminine ladies. This event is scheduled to start on Thursday, January 15 at 11am for 1st Row members, noon for 2nd Row members. This event will run for 36 hours. ideeli prices for this event start at $75 | ||||

proenza schouler GLAMOROUS | |||||
| First-Class Fashion Not every fashion label enjoys immediate success, but then again, not every fashion label is like Proenza Schouler. Founders Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough met in class at Parsons School of Design and joined forces on their senior thesis project in 1999. They coined their collection Proenza Schouler, after their mothers' maiden names, and by the time they left school, they were well on their way to the forefront of fashion. Formally founding Proenza Schouler in 2002, Hernandez and McCollough quickly built a reputation for an edgy, youthful twist on upscale style. Clean lines pave the way for skillful detailing, which marks every Proenza Schouler creation. Both playful and sophisticated, Proenza Schouler embodies hip, high-class style for the modern age. And fashion's elites have taken notice. With a cult following and sterling reputation, Hernandez and McCollough received the Council of Fashion Designers of America's coveted Perry Ellis Award for new talent in 2003. From ready-to-wear to handbags to sunglasses, Proenza Schouler is truly first-class fashion. | Picture Perfect Pillows Noting the bountiful use of color in Indian fashions, the iconic editor Diana Vreeland said, "Pink is the navy blue of India!" And as usual, she was right. With a rich heritage and a free spirit, India embraces color, texture and ornament in a truly unique way. Rooted firmly in this culture, Shades of India unites contemporary designers with traditional artisans to create striking home fashions that add a dose of style to any decor. Founded over fourteen years ago, Shades of India looks beyond the borders to Japan and Southeast Asia for inspiration. Mandeep Nagi, an Indian textile designer, and David Housego, a former UK journalist with a passion for diversity, seek to join the craftsmanship of the East with the fashions of the West. All Shades of India treasures are handmade in India from the finest silks and cottons, and are finished with elegant details. The results are pillows that reflect India's passion for color and design, and make any room picture perfect. | American Tale It seems unlikely that the son of a dressmaker and traveling hardware salesman would grow up to become one of the great American designers, but the life of Bill Blass is a surprising and charmed one indeed. Born in 1922 in Indiana, William Ralph Blass was instantly drawn to fashion and at age seventeen, he moved to New York to study at Parsons School of Design. Upon graduation, however, Blass was drafted to serve in the army, forcing him to put his fashion dreams on hold. Fortunately, after the war, Blass returned to the city more determined than ever. He soon built a reputation for his impeccable tailoring and sporty yet sophisticated designs. Blass creations became synonymous with simple glamour, and America's most stylish women, from Jackie Kennedy to Brooke Astor, flocked to his studio. Most recently one of fashion's newest darlings, Peter Som, lead the way at Bill Blass. Staying true to the label's roots in clean lines and exquisite structure, Som updated the looks to reflect his own refined sexiness. The resulting collections and accessories reveal a fresh twist on classic American style and prove that this American tale is still being written. This event is scheduled to start on Tuesday, January 13 at 11am for 1st Row members, noon for 2nd Row members. This event will run for 36 hours. ideeli prices for this event start at $152 | |||

The French know fashion. And Emanuel Ungaro knows France. Ungaro was born in Aix-En-Provence in 1933, after his Italian parents relocated to the French countryside. From an early age, Ungaro showed an innate love for clothing and learned sewing techniques from his father. At 22, however, the fledgling designer wanted something more and moved to Paris to immerse himself in the epicenter of elegance.
Ungaro apprenticed at Cristobal Balenciaga and then at Courreges, where he mastered the art of haute couture and honed his eye for subtlest style twists. Though working under the auspices of these masters, Ungaro developed his own distinct aesthetic-one marked by soft silhouettes and seductive details. In 1965, he opened the doors to his own fashion house in Paris and in 1968 he launched his inaugural ready-to-wear collection. Today, Esteban Cortazar acts as head designer of Emanuel Ungaro, creating collections that link the romance of Parisian soirees with the sleekness of modern style, reminding us that truly great fashion is something to celebrate.
